Sweet Summer Greetings from Pamelyn!

While maybe not officially summer as far as the calendar is concerned we are on our way!  As I write this, I'm surrounded by the hum of lawn mowers getting yards ready for the weekend. Parents are out walking children and pets.  On my walk this morning I saw lots of homes decorated for our country's 250th birthday!  Sidewalks are decorated in chalk with artwork of flowers, bumble bees, ice cream cones, and hopscotch challenges signaling that summer is on!

Our Summer Hook-In for guild members at the Johnstown Library is set for June 27th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

A registration form is available on the website under Events/Classes/Workshops tab. Lunch will be provided if you choose.  Please complete your registration form and forward or mail to Kay Thode at your earliest opportunity for planning purposes. Gale W. and I are looking forward to presenting lots of wooly and artful goodness.  We will be introducing five new "Note Card Series" patterns along with a few other patterns and wools of course, dyed, plaids with a few new offerings recently available.

Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild Memorial Fund

This past April a guild member asked if an anonymous donation could be made to the guild in the name/memory of Janet (Mitchell) Poulton.  She shared that she wanted to do something in Janet's name that she felt was meaningful to both her and Janet.  Shortly following this conversation, a few others asked the same.  My response was yes.

Donations collected have been turned over to the treasurer, recorded as "Member Memorial Donations" and will appear as a line item on the Guild's Treasury Report.

At the next biannual hook-in, Saturday October 10th, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton - Newark, active and present guild members will receive a ticket when checking in.  The ticket has a value of $ 30.00 and will be applicable toward the next BRHG Hookin Registration fee only for the winning member.   This process will continue until all donations are expended.  The winning draw is not transferable; therefore, a second member ticket will be drawn as a backup.   The winning draw is to be used at the next scheduled hook in.  Once a member's name is drawn, the member is exempt from participation in future drawing until all funds are expended.  The second draw tickets will not be excluded from future drawings if not used.

If you have questions hold them until we meet in June or October.  I'm traveling most of this month and will not be avaialble to reply to emails.

Have a great summer and see you soon!

- Pamelyn
